A new **Avengers: Doomsday rumor** could give us a completely different explanation for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and the mysterious **“You are Tony Stark”** line.
Instead of Doctor Doom secretly being another Tony Stark variant, what if **Robert Downey Jr. is actually playing Victor von Doom**, but Victor somehow gains Tony Stark’s memories, consciousness, or experiences through the Multiverse?
That would allow Marvel to keep Doom as Victor while still making RDJ’s history as Iron Man important to the story.
Imagine Doom suddenly remembering things that never happened to him: fighting alongside the Avengers, creating Ultron, losing Peter Parker, battling Thanos, and ultimately sacrificing himself with the Infinity Stones.
The Avengers would see the face of Tony Stark, while Doom could potentially have Tony’s memories without actually being the man they lost.
It could also explain why someone would look directly at Doom and tell him, **“You are Tony Stark.”**
The bigger question would be what those memories do to Victor. Does he reject them? Does he start questioning his own identity? Or does having Tony Stark’s knowledge make Doctor Doom even more dangerous?
This is still a rumor and theory, but it would give Marvel a way to connect RDJ’s return to Tony Stark without turning Doctor Doom into another Iron Man variant.
