Julius Dr. J Erving retired in 1987 at age 37 after 11 years in the NBA and 5 in the ABA, finishing with 30,026 points and a 24.2 PPG average, winning 2 ABA titles with the New York Nets, and leading the Sixers to the 1983 NBA Championship over the Lakers.
