In this video I comapare the Rode VideoMic Pro vs. the Azden SGM-1X microphone. The Azden is an XLR microphone that needs one AAA battery to be powered (it does not need phantom power). I recorded the audio to a Tascam DR-40.

The Rode VideoMic Pro on the other hand, has a regular mic input which you can connect directly to your camera. I usually record audio to a ZoomH1 with this Mic.
