Have you ever wondered why certain people in your family tree seem… stuck in limbo? While working in FamilySearch, I stumbled across a list that made me pause. Dozens of people marked as living who were clearly born over a century ago. Some I recognized. Some I absolutely did not. And every one of them was quietly privatized.
In this video, I’ll show you where this hidden list lives, why it matters, and how a quick sort by birth date helped me uncover dozens of “living deceased” profiles that needed attention, updates, and in some cases, merges.
I won’t walk through the mechanics of marking someone deceased or merging profiles. There are already great tutorials for that. But I will show you where to look and why this is an important cleanup task if you want your research to be visible, accurate, and collaborative.
