Many Christians think that when they say "Jesus is the only way to God," we in "the world" are offended because they've made an absolute, exclusive truth claim. According to them, secular society now only believes in "relative truth," the idea that anything can be true for anybody as long as they sincerely believe it, and we think "absolute truth" (you know, the idea that things can be actually true) is offensive. But is this really why we take issue with Christianity? Are we really so stupid that we don't believe in the idea that some facts can be exclusively, demonstrably true? Or do we MAYBE just question the validity of Christians' claims and think they should chill out a little about digging in and insisting everybody else believe before they've actually demonstrated any of their claims?
