Ladies, gentlemen, boys, and girls, hello I’m Julian Northbrook from doingenglish.com and here’s a super fast tip for you.

If you’re one of these people who gets all nervous about speaking English, and misses tons of opportunities, conversations, what have you’s because you freeze and then you think, “Ugh, I can’t do it!” and then you just don’t.

What I want you to do is to create something that I like to call a “fast action habit”. What this is, in a nutshell, is a rule that you set for yourself. Whenever you feel nervous, whenever you feel fear about speaking English, use those nerves, use that fear as a trigger. And just do it.

So essentially, the fear becomes a sign. A sign that this is something that you should do. The fear tells you that this is a learning opportunity and therefore we should go for it. So, suddenly, this very negative thing, this fear, these nerves, this terror, this freezing that you experience when it comes to conversation actually becomes a good thing. And over time, in your mind, you are going to start to associate this fear, this stepping out of your comfort zone, with improving in English.

From that comes the reward, the feeling that you’ve improved and with an improvement. Give it a go let me know how you get on in the comments. This is me, Julian Northbrook, signing out. But before I do, head over to doingenglish.com/, stick your email address in the box provided, and I will send you every single day an email packed with tips and ideas for mastering the English language fast. That’s doingenglish.com/. Buh-bye.
