Health insurance companies in the U.S. are "not motivated" to invest in primary care since another insurer will likely reap the benefits, says Dr. Lucy McBride.

KFF Health News' Renuka Rayasam agrees, saying "there's an enormous amount of churn" with employer-based insurance plans in the current system.

"The likelihood that a patient is with the same insurer for their lifetime is very, very low," she said.
