As I said: that's a lot of work. But it is absolutely helpful. If you want more light in your bird's cage, you can do the same, but wrapping each bar separately instead of wrapping two. I wrapped every two.
PURPOSES:
Makes cages less noisy
Protects the bird's beak from cracks or splits
Prevents the metal from heating up in the sun
My bird (Terry) was biting her cage to get out of it. I close her for nights to prevent issues (sometimes birds have nightmares too!) or I close her when I have to leave. While she's biting the cage, her beak becomes cracked, and the sound of metal cage bars bumping in echoes is pretty annoying... I had to make this solution a long time ago...
