You’ve seen DNA being collected at crime scenes on TV, heard friends discuss the results of their Ancestry DNA tests, and read about how DNA affects our health, but do you really know how it works? Join Dr. Felicia Vulcu and Dr. Caitlin Mullarkey, two biochemists from McMaster University, for DNA Decoded, an open online course that explores what DNA is, how it works, and why it’s so significant. You’ll be introduced to the practical techniques that scientists use to analyze our genetic risks, to manipulate DNA, and to develop new treatments for a range of different diseases. Then, step into a virtual lab to perform your own forensic analysis of DNA samples from a crime scene to solve a murder. Join us as we crack the genetic code!
