The #1 thing that kills Dungeons & Dragons campaigns is the dreaded scheduling issue! So when a player comes back after missing an RPG session, you had better be grateful! What you don't do is kill their character and rewrite their backstory while they're gone... that's how RPG Horror Stories are made.
