The Kings Monologue | Djoser Reconstruction - One small detail changed EVERYTHING @kingmono | Uploaded March 2023 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
In this video, I take you through my process in creating my latest reconstruction. The first meaningful reconstruction of Pharaoh Djoser. The process was tricky and one small detail completely transformed everything about it. Enjoy!

Pharaoh Djoser, also known as Netjerikhet, was the second pharaoh of the Third Dynasty of ancient Egypt. He ruled from around 2667 to 2648 BCE and is perhaps best known for commissioning the construction of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, which is considered the oldest pyramid in Egypt.

Djoser's reign was a time of significant cultural and political change in ancient Egypt. During his reign, the central government became more organized and powerful, and the pharaoh's role as a divine ruler became more firmly established. Djoser also undertook a number of building projects, including the construction of temples and fortresses throughout Egypt.

However, it was the construction of the Step Pyramid that truly set Djoser apart from his predecessors. The pyramid was designed by Djoser's architect, Imhotep, and was an innovative structure that revolutionized Egyptian architecture. Instead of a flat mastaba, which had been the standard for royal tombs up until that point, the Step Pyramid was a series of stacked mastabas, gradually decreasing in size as they ascended towards the apex.

The Step Pyramid complex also included a number of other structures, including a temple and a court, as well as a number of smaller tombs for Djoser's relatives and courtiers. The complex was surrounded by a massive wall, which may have been designed to protect the pharaoh's tomb from tomb robbers.

Today, the Step Pyramid at Saqqara remains one of Egypt's most impressive and enduring monuments, a testament to the innovative spirit and enduring legacy of Pharaoh Djoser.
