DJI has done it! With the new firmware update v01.01.05.20 for the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, they've fixed all the issues people were complaining about. Now, you can set the bitrate to either standard or high, which means the image quality is absolutely superb—details are sharp, and the colors are clearer than ever. After this update, I don't see any other action cameras that can truly compete with the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro.
In this video, I test the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro against the Insta360 Ace Pro by mounting both cameras on the outside of a moving car—the perfect way to capture fine details and put them to the test. For me, it's clear that DJI has taken the top spot with this latest update. The Insta360 Ace Pro is still a great camera, but as you'll see, it doesn't quite measure up to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro in terms of overall quality.
However, there is always room for improvement—DJI could work on reducing some of the HDR over-processing. But I have no doubt that DJI has set a new benchmark, and it will be hard for other brands to keep up. And in the end, that only benefits us as consumers.
