UPDATE: I made a mistake in the video. You do not have to glue it in, and infact, the metal piece slides to the side to lock/unlock it, as it is written/stamped into the metal. I'm an idiot and didnt pay attention to that. I still had to remove glue, but was able to slide it in/back out to lock it in place, thus not needing to glue. Sorry for the mistake!
This vid shows how to remove the metal case and then get the micro-sd card holder unglued. Use a 4gb, 8gb or 16gb SD card, older/slower is better.
Why?
To do the "mods" on the Mavic, we need firmware 1.03.0700. This firmware requires the existence of a micro-sd card inside to write data to for the flight parameters. Now, in the Mavic Platinum, Artic white and Mavic Pro's (which were made after Sept 2017), DJI removed the micro-sd card from the manufacturing process. They also changed the firmware in 1.03.1000+ to no longer write to that micr-sd card (but those newer fw also no longer have the moddable parameters included). This means, if you downgrade one of these aircraft to firmware 1.03.0700 without adding a micro-sd card, it will give an error (SD card error, or main controller data errror). The only way to then fix is to go back to later firmware, or install a micro-sd card. This process is really ONLY for those who want to rollback and mod the parameters.
