what is a cypher?
wikipedia's definition:
"Often, freestyling is done in a group setting (called a cypher) or as part of a freestyle battle.[1] In these cases, freestyle verses are often prepared in the rapper's head as the other rappers in the cypher or the opponent in the battle take their turn. Metaphors and similes are often used when freestyling and a good punch line makes a great impact when freestyling in a cypher."
BASICALLY, a youtube rap cypher is a jam session of various rappers on a beat (via youtube) where a rapper spits a 16 and then calls out the next rapper (passing the mic) so that the music never stops
DIRECTIONS:
1) Write a 16 bar verse to the beat or freestyle
2) call out the next rapper
3) post your video as a video response and tag it with "DJ KRΦSS JAZZ HOP CYPHER"
4) HAVE FUN!!! I can't wait to hear u guys and the people you call out on this beat!
