"Grumble Yama" by DJ Grumble & GO YAMA

Without even listening to the song, the name "Grumble Yama" sounds like a hairy Japanese anime cave troll from the world of Hayao Miyazaki. That’s just where my strange imagination takes me. Press play and that character is replaced by one much more suave, chill, and buoyant. Bobbing up with the wind and of the waves as the jazzy notes drip and slither through the sun. The sand bouncing with every drum beat.
The name "Grumble Yama" was fittingly born from the recent chill hop collaboration between DJ Grumble and Go Yama. Grumble refers to himself as a DJ and chemist - aiming to be the first hip-hop producer with a PhD in chemistry as he’s currently enrolled at the University of Washington in St.Louis. First inspired by the likes of Thelonious Monk and Miles Davis, Grumble actually discovered hip hop by listening to Lincoln Park. Now he loves the fat beats of guys like DJ Premier and his jazzy sounds have been used by creatives all around the world.
Go Yama is a Japanese American producer, jazz guitarist and self proclaimed ramen lover hailing from San Francisco. He doesn’t pigeonhole himself to one style. His vibes range from glitchy and experimental, to downtempo and cosmic, to kauai meets Mario N64. Go Yama reminds me a jazzy Neo, able to create glitches in the matrix of dope beats.
This chilled but sunny track is perfect for those lazy Sundays when you wanna sneak a little extra baller in your step. Crazy it doesn’t even have 4k plays on Spotify yet.
