Team Just Cuz Robotics | DIY Wall Mounted Knife Holder: A CAD #withme Project @JustCuzRobotics | Uploaded 4 years ago | Updated 1 minute ago
This weekend I don't have any Bloodsport content, so instead, I thought I'd start a CAD Along series for when I have nothing better to do and I've got a little project to complete. The idea here is that it requires fairly minimal time to edit these videos, but they can be helpful for others who are just getting started in CAD and want to see how the design process works. Or, simply want to learn how I go about getting from concept to CAD model.
This time I have a little 3D printable object I wish to make that will be stuck to the wall in my kitchen and hold a knife that I just bought. I have been doing way more cooking since this quarantine began and I have a set of 14 knives I got for less than $25 on amazon. Needless to say after nearly 3 years of use the main chef's knife is super dull and it was pretty much trash to begin with, so I decided to make my life easier and invest in a better knife. However, it won't fit in the knife block, so I need a better solution. Spending $10 or so on a mount an amazon for a single knife seems rather foolish so I figured, why not just make my own!
In theory, editing this would have been easy, but due to weird rendering issues even after editing for two hours I spent over an hour trying to export the thing and I eventually had to give up and export a version with no cuts whatsoever. I'm sorry this is super long, but hey, CAD takes time. Let me know in the comments if you would like more of this. I might even be able to do them more than once a week if I can get the editing to actually work. Also if you have simple-ish suggestions of something you would like me to design for you, put that in the comments as well!
