I took a dark neglected corner in our basement and turned it into a cozy reading nook for our kids' playroom thanks to this fun, simple and modern DIY Botanical Mural. I hand painted this and have a timelapse of the process plus some tips like the paint brushes I used along the way.

I love checking out home tours and design content around the web to spark ideas that I can DIY in my own home. Bravo TV has some amazing Home and Design content that I've been digging into. When I spotted the last photo of the Chelsea Meissner Home Tour (bravotv.com/southern-charm/home-design/chelsea-meissner-brand-new-home-photos) that featured a hand painted botanical mural by a local artist... the sparks were flying!
I knew I couldn't recreate the beautiful shading that that mural had but thought I could definitely take on a simplified, modern version of a botanical mural. The awkward corner in our playroom was the perfect space to give it a try! I used standard wall paint for this mural and a combination of a large standard paint brush and a small flat paint brush to paint these leaves on the wall.
