I’d like to show you a method I use to make slopers (basic pattern) for dolls that I don’t already have one for or to alter existing patterns to fit other dolls. The sample I make in the video is for a sleeveless shirt, but you can use this method to make other garments as well.
Some things to keep in mind:
• Slopers do not have any ease in them. They are made to closely fit the body. Depending on the fabric you use, you may have to add (or subtract in the case of swimsuits/dancewear) ease to make dressing the doll easier. You may also want to add design ease, depending on the style of clothing you are making.
• Slopers do not have any seam allowance. You need add seam allowance to your pieces before cutting them out of fabric.
• Always test your pieces with scrap fabric before cutting into your good fabric. You may need to further adjust your pieces
