Part three in this series of "making of" videos where I make a super-basic printer controlled by an Arduino.
Although it still doesn't look like a printer, I've been working on the software. Here, you can see the first stages of having the printer be controlled by the computer. The image data is actually being sent, but very slowly (think of it as a "compatibility mode") - I wanted to make sure I had two-way communication working perfectly before making things faster. As such, there are still debugging messages being displayed on the Arduino's LCD, too, left over from me trying to get things to work.
The next stage will be to prove that the Arduino is really receiving the image data correctly, even though there's no mechanism to move a pen yet!

This is a 15-minute show that I rushed together in a week for a small party in London called WOTA, which has a Japanese theme. This was the 12th WOTA, and the final one organised by Piloru. This show is 5 times longer than any show Id made at the time, but I still only had a week from start to finish (which is how long I took to make the 3-minute Dark/Light show). As a result, its nowhere near as detailed as my other shows.
The music starts off as hardstyle, turns to hardcore and ends in trance. The first 3 songs are from USAOs set from day 1 of the online music event Otaku Hardcore Revolution 4, and the final song is by Halozy. The songs are:

I attempted to record this video in 3D with one camera by moving it slightly between 2 separate shots, but it didnt turn out very well. This is partially because the swirls of fog arent in the exact same positions in both shots, and because I apparently moved the camera a little wrongly.
This video version is recorded with my old DV camcorder, which sees the colours well, but its not HD, so text is harder to read. I also recorded the show with my HD camcorder so the text is clear and easy to read, but it struggles to see the colour of the lasers (blue is invisible at times, and theres no difference between red/pink, yellow/green, cyan/green).")

Just a quick video... yeah, that didnt happen. Heres the program I made to control the Roland Sound Canvass LCD, as seen in my Kill Me Baby MIDI with animation. Someone was interested in it, so I finally cleaned it up and am releasing it for download now! It seems that my download videos are always unprofessional, even back to the Bleeper Music Maker days...

The Microsoft VB6 Runtime installer is included in the download. You only need to use it if my program fails to start. Window 7 and later operating systems come with it pre-installed.
The MIDI editor I use is the brilliant freeware Sekaiju (version 3.8, in this video):

Tsuki Dokei ~Luna Dial~, via the internal PC speaker (or system speaker). I transcribed it for my Bleeper Music Maker, and here it is playing it along with the original MIDI made by ZUN (but with the channels which my program plays MUTED).
This one took about 2 hours 45 mins to complete (ZUNs style of arpeggio harmonies are beautiful, but the complexity of the beauty makes it tedious to transcribe), but who knows how long it wouldve taken if Sakuya hadnt kept slowing time. I thank her. =D (On an unrelated side-note, I am perfectly sane.)
I tried to recreate that messing with time sensation that the percussion and bass in the original did, by using dotted notes for the bass at the equivalent points.
Finally! With a new release of my Bleeper Music Maker, you can now do dotted and triplet notes! =D The buttons are above the music list. You can see the Dotted button automatically pop in and out as it comes across a dotted note (Dot) in the music list.
