I made this wood grain themed NES controller coffee table out of 1 piece of 3/4" plywood, some 1/4" plywood and a few scraps of red oak for legs and handles. The project uses inlayed pieces which were individually stained then glued in place to create crisp edges while showing off the wood grain patterns. The the stain I used for the black sections was ebony, the red buttons were a tinted red stain and the grey was classic grey which I didn't like so sanded down and mixed up 1 part light grey paint and 3 parts water and brushed on. The finish used was 3 coats of water based polyurethane.
