DIY Kids Gharara From 18 Year Old Saree- Stitching & Final Look
Lets begin with a learning of difference between sharara and gharara.
Gharara is fit upto knee length and then there are flared.
Sharara is fit only on waist. Now adays its also called as divided skirt.
We will again use an old saree for this dress. Lets begin with full body measurement.
Gharara measurement
Total length 31 inch
Knee length 14 inch
Knee round 12 inch
Waist round 26 inch
Hip round 32 inch
Note: Always wash and iron your lining cloth. Because the lining cloth always shrink after washing.
Knee length and knee round are very important measurement in gharara. We will first mark and draft upto knee length similar to pants. And for frill section we will draft separately.
We will begin with half inch margin for seam allowance then add for 1.5 inch for belt with elastic. Then we will mark knee length with half inch seam allowance. For crotch length we will take quarter of hip round and add 1.5 inch that would become 9.5 inch. Seam allowance is added in this measurement. While marking hip round for kids dress take 4 inch for loosing and take quarter of total for marking the hip round i.e 9 inch and add 2 inch for crotch curve at hip round. Now follow the video and mark and join all the points. For frills part of the gharara, we will take 3x of the knee length and take double fold the cloth and now make it 4 fold. And follow the video as follows till end and you be with a similar or better final draft.
