This week in my renovation series, we’re bringing more personality into the kitchen with a set of custom DIY floating shelves. Last week, I painted the kitchen cabinets with an airless paint sprayer, and now it’s time to layer in the details that make this space feel like home.

For these shelves, I used simple 2x8 boards, mixed my own custom blend of Minwax stain to get the perfect color, and sealed them with an all-natural tung oil for a timeless finish. The shelves are mounted on brass floating shelf brackets that are both functional and beautiful, adding just the right touch of warmth and elegance.
