So the other day I stumbled upon a Firebox Nano Gas Mod where the burner from a generic remote canister stove was stripped down and installed in a Firebox Nano.

Apparently, Mark Young had done it previously by using a washer to install the burner to the Nano.

That looked like a nifty idea. I have a similar stove used as a backup car camping stove. I couldn't really think of a reason to use a remote canister stove otherwise unless it had a heat pipe for cold temperatures. I would just use my Soto Windmaster if using gas canisters.

Then I saw Mark Young's video about the Firebox Gas Burner.

It has a titanium heat diffuser which Mark mentioned could be used for grilling.

Hm? Grilling? Sounds like it's time to do some tinkering.
I took apart my stove, but couldn't find an appropriate sized washer to install it on the Nano.
So I took a fan grill from an old PC and cut the wires at the center of the grill. I had previously used it to test wood pellets in the Nano.
After filing down the fan grill to get the stove's top to fit, I screwed the stove on to the Nano. Luckily, the burner ended up flush to the ground.

Now for the diffuser. I had previously purchased the titanium solid fuel plate for the Firebox Nano but haven't used it yet. It's clean without any residue. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use it since there's no air gaps. I'm worried it might get a bit too hot in there.

I tried the whole thing out with some turkey bacon. I already had the small baking rack for a grill top. It turned out well, but I had to crank up the heat a bit to get it going. There's a bit of distance between the grill and the plate.
