This driveway was destroying my tyres… so I finally fixed it.
What started as a “quick, cheap fix” turned into a full driveway rebuild using MOT Type 1, road planings, geotextile, and a LOT more money than I expected. After replacing multiple tyres and dealing with punctures caused by sharp flint, I decided enough was enough.
In this video, I show how I rebuilt my driveway in stages without ripping the whole thing out — including:
Laying 40 tonnes of MOT Type 1 (granite)
Using road planings as a top layer
Applying K1-40 tack coat for better bonding
Fixing soft/muddy areas properly
Levelling and compacting for a long-lasting finish
Total cost? Let’s just say it didn’t stay at £1,000…
