Design Guidelines help to support the review of alterations, relocation, and demolition of individually designated properties as well as construction of infill within historic districts. Members of the Buena Vista Historic Preservation Commission recently drafted their own historic preservation design guidelines, engaged in public outreach to garner community feedback and support, and adopted and implemented the final version. They lead us through their step-by-step approach to drafting and adopting their own historic preservation design guidelines based on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
