Nintendo has released a major free update for Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and it adds far more than anyone expected. Players can now use Dixie Kong as a playable character, bringing her signature hair-spin glide into every level and changing how the game is played.

The update also introduces a brand-new Turbo Mode, transforming levels into fast-paced time trials for speedrunners and completionists. On Nintendo Switch 2, the game now features improved resolution, faster load times, and local GameShare, allowing two players to enjoy co-op with only one copy of the game.
