If you could dive into Saturn’s rings, you would see that these beautiful rings are made of everything from tiny, icy dust particles to massive chunks as big as mountains. The diverse composition of the particles in Saturn's rings also makes them stand out from other ring systems in our solar system. With a wide variety of different types of ice, the rings reflect sunlight in bright, vivid colors. This gives them a unique and striking appearance that sets them apart from the darker, more mundane ring systems of Jupiter and Neptune. But the planet is losing its beautiful rings. Scientists estimate Saturn’s ring structure will be lost in the next 100 million years. It sounds like a long time, but it’s just a fraction of the 4.5 billion-year history of the planet.
