Join us for a Diversity in TV discussion, as author T.A. Beasley and I dive into the season's finale of Law and Order: SVU & Organized Crime (OC) cross-over! We'll break down the four-episode cross-over finale and discuss a major twist that left many fan's heads spinning and mine fuming with flames!
We'll discuss the portrayal of disabled characters in the finale and the harmful message portrayed in Organized Crime. As writers, it's important to be aware of the impact our stories can have on society, especially when it comes to marginalized communities. In this video, we'll discuss why portraying certain stereotypes and tropes about disability is dangerous and perpetuates harmful misconceptions.
My goal with each of my diversity series is to help writers challenge traditional tropes and create authentic, diverse characters that break free from clichés and provide more positive representation of characters in media and lit.
