The mathematicians who call themselves ‘physicists’ have never understood the word 'distance'. Whenever a mathematician mentions this word, he is referring to distance-traveled: the distance traveled by the tip of his measuring tape. A mathematician has no use for qualitative separation or gap: genuine distance. Math phyz can’t put ‘separation’ in an equation.
Likewise, length is not a parameter you measure. Length refers to continuous matter lying between two opposite surfaces of an object. The object is assumed to be made of a single piece.
As a result, the mathematicians never discovered that the ‘distance’ in Newton’s gravitational equation (F = m1 m2 / distance²) is not the distance traveled of Mathematics, but rather the distance of Physics: qualitative separation between TWO objects. This distance is qualitatively different than the distance-traveled by ONE object in Newton’s Second Law (F=ma).
Corollary: Mother Nature knows nothing about unwinding the tips of measuring tapes.
