Thousands have fled the Lower Shabelle region of Somalia
and settled in makeshift camps on the outskirts of Mogadishu. According
to the UN's refugee agency, 35,000 people were displaced in the first
three months of 2020 alone, nearly all citing conflict as the reason.
U.S. airstrikes have targeted the region in support of the Somali
government's counter-terrorism efforts.
