On our trip this past week to Disneyland and DCA we went to our first EVER Oogie Boogie Bash! I have wanted to go to a Halloween party in Disneyland since I was in high school and it was such an incredible time! The set up for this event is so different than what we are used to on the east coast in Disney World, and it was so much fun. We got to see SO MANY VILLAINS in such a short amount of time. We also got to meet Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed up as the Sanderson sisters which was a major bucket list item for me this year!
Villains Grove was something I was super excited for and was a major priority for me to see with a short wait and I am so glad we went to see it when we did. It was not super crowded in there and it did not have a very long wait at all! I heard that later in the night it picked up quite a bit more. Unfortunately, this experience was mostly at the expense of seeing the Frightfully Fun parade. While this was a huge disappointment for us, we were lucky enough to see basically half of it on our way to Villains Grove (we did not realize at the time how short the parade was), and we did have a super good view of headless horseman!
We went to this party on a holiday weekend and after chatting with some cast members throughout the party and some guests after the party, we learned that quite a few things went wrong at our party, likely due to staffing issues. The Sanderson sisters only met a couple of times together that night and if you weren't in line by 6:30ish, you likely weren't going to meet them all together - maybe one at a time if you were lucky. Also, none of the Mickey stage shows occurred this night at all and this left many families quite disappointed after returning to the stage for each showing since cast members weren't given information that the show was never going to happen. With these issues, characters going inside early, and the second parade not happening, I heard a lot of guests were quite disappointed this time around with the party.
Honestly, issues aside, I had an excellent time and cannot wait to return next year. All of this is really to say, prioritize what you want to do in the beginning of the night regardless of possible crowds. And ALWAYS be prepared to have anything and everything cancelled. This is even written in the fine print of your tickets when you purchase them. Nothing is guaranteed - make the most of what is offered on your particular night. A night in Disney's California Adventure is certainly better than a night at home!
