The Marvels is the 33rd film in the MCU, and Disney CEO Bob Iger has finally recognized that there's a quantity vs. quality problem. But that's precisely what fans recognized some time ago, with casual MCU enjoyers finding it difficult to keep up with intertwined plots and MCU sub-series feeling more obligatory than enjoyable.

It's not the strike and it's not women failing to turn out for The Marvels. The very simple economic truth that Disney is beginning to admit is that they really just need to make movies that people enjoy.
