Disney is remaking "The Little Mermaid" and to promote the movie they keep putting down the original and claim they are fixing it with this new movie. However, some of the criticism they lobby at the 1989 classic seems unwarranted and overly negative. Despite being made by the same company, it feels like they miss the point of the original. So I take a look at the film and it's characters to explain why I don't agree with the current rhetoric.
