The sequence involved Simba and a cloud of debris that, if you believe urban legends and myths, spells out “S-E-X”. It looks more like S-F-X to me, a common acronym for special effects, but the shot in question was altered no matter the truth on all subsequent releases.

This has been mastered directly from the 1990 LaserDisc release, not from VHS like most of the other copies floating around the internet. I authored the 13-part series onto 4 dual-layer DVDs and one dual-layer Blu-ray (all 11 hours and 20 minutes encoded as standard definition but in the H.264 codec with a max bit rate of 12mbps, higher than possible on DVD).")
