The original theatrical release of Aladdin
(1992) contained the lyrics: “Where they cut off your ear if they don’t like your face; it’s barbaric, but hey - it’s home!” during the opening song “Arabian Nights”. After an outcry from the Arab Defamation League, Disney altered the lyrics for the 1993 video release - and all future releases have kept this lyric change: “Where it’s flat and immense and the heat is intense; it’s barbaric, but hey - it’s home!” However, the soundtrack CD was left intact for many years with the original lyrics preserved.
