On the 20th May 2015, in the Potchestroom High Court, Judge Kruger, stated that Disebo's perpetrator showed no remorse to the heinous crime he committed. Sexual orientation must be protected and that hate crimes such as these can't be condoned within South Africa's democracy. Iranti-org followed this case from the beginning and advocated for a speedy trial and for the insertion of hate crime evidence into this investigation. We further ensure that Disebo's sexual orientation was a key factor in this crime. The judge sentenced 'Boerke' to 2 life terms and 15 years for stealing Disebo's cellphone. Iranti-org will continue to work towards ending all forms of discrimation based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
