Here is a max/msp patch I made sometime last year. My goal was to create a little system for creating generative music.
It's loosely based on the process Brian Eno used in his composition Discreet Music. Instead of tape machines feeding each other, I have a series of buffer~ and groove~ objects recording each other in a loop at a set delay. In the end you result in some interesting rhythmic and melodic patterns as the notes record over and over each other.
The other part of this patch is a simple sequencer that can be quantized to different scales. The sequencers pattern is randomized every second. Not pictured, FM8 is the instrument and Guitar Rig is supplying the reverb at the end of the signal chain. All the visuals are there because why not, and hey they look cool!
