We were so excited to take the train ride with lights, ride the historic carousel, play the carnival games, and sled on the man-made snow hills! We had talked it up with the kids, and they were pumped. They couldn't wait to see the man-made snow and the cool lights from the little train. Unfortunately, we were disappointed.
It turns out the night we went to the Holiday Express was employee night (Mike works for the city, and loves it!) and there weren't enough volunteers for everything to be open. We didn't know that there were going to be fewer things open than they normally have when the Holiday Express is open to the public. We ended up being disappointed by having no carnival games and no snow hill to sled on. We were also not impressed by the lack of lights on the actual holiday express ride.
We loved the carousel ride and the crafts were adorable. The volunteers were so sweet and everyone was very friendly. Overall, we all decided that the attraction is definitely one that is geared toward younger children and their families, as there really isn't much for older kids or teens to get excited about.
