Remembered Reads | Disability Readathon Wrap-Up | October 2019 | #disabilityreadathon @RememberedReads | Uploaded October 2019 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
The Disability Readathon is hosted by Anna Goldberg (youtube.com/channel/UC5IaSfWEY19OsxZq_wZeoUA) and The Geeky Gimp (youtube.com/user/thegeekygimp). Readathon site: disabilityreadathon.com
Books mentioned:
About Us: Essays from the Disability Series of the New York Times edited by Peter Catapano & Rosemarie Garland-Thomson
This Is Not a Love Scene by S.C. Megale
The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor (related site: https://thebodyisnotanapology.com)
The Most Expensive Night of Her Life by Amy Andrews
Anatomy of a Soldier by Harry Parker
All You Can Ever Know: A Memoir by Nicole Chung narrated by Janet Song
I made an error in trimming the discussion about the audio for All You Can Ever Know, but the part that was cut out is describing how this memoir *isn't* read by the author and that the narrator read the entire book in a breathy voice that both makes it sound like she's about to cry, and doesn't sound like the actual author.
The February 2017 wrap-up in which I originally discussed Anatomy of a Soldier (back when I recorded videos in my old Houston house's storage room!): youtube.com/watch?v=gDFoys4kyIg
