Dirty Projectors, from Brooklyn, born in 2002 from an idea of the singer-songwriter David Longstreth has released the new and ninth album Song Of The Earth. The arrangement is by the Berlin-based chamber orchestra Stargaze, a collective of contemporary musicians who has worked in the past with Terry Riley, John Cale, Lee Ranaldo, Julia Holter and many others. Longstreth said that the new work "is saturated with the Mahler work's themes, feelings and spirit of dissolved contradiction". The album also features Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie) and Steve Lacy among others. Highly recommended.
