I reached out to Jimmy Diresta to see if he wanted to try and automate the new twisting process in his ice pick design. This is a fun and interesting challenge. Its basically figuring out a way to make a clean 180 degree twist in a 3/8" brass hex bar.
In part 1 I will build the initial "machine" and the electronics and get things moving! It will likely need some changes and tuning. In part 2 there will be the addition of a heater and we make any modifications that are needed, maybe some science as well.
