As part of the "Egypt Eternal" tour led by Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East director Peter Der Manuelian, he describes this rare mummy container belonged to Padimut, a priest and metal engraver from ancient Thebes (modern Luxor) around 940 BCE. Crafted from linen and plaster in raised relief, it features detailed scenes of gods Anubis and Ra-Horakhty, as well as a unique depiction of the deified king Amenhotep I on its base. With its exquisite decoration and uncommon technique, this cartonnage coffin is a true masterpiece of the museum’s collection.
