In our conversation, we explored the intense production journey of bringing Uoto’s manga to life — from the challenges of animating running scenes through rotoscoping, to the deeper message behind competition, obsession, and identity.
100 Meters follows two high-school sprinters whose rivalry evolves into a powerful reflection on drive, burnout, and self-worth — captured with Iwaisawa’s signature experimental animation style. The film has been praised for its emotional depth and strikingly human storytelling.
