It can be tricky working with directional print fabrics in your sewing projects. Which way is it supposed to go? Generally the rule for apparel is to always cut your pattern pieces on the grain line, but in select circumstances I will choose to cut cross grain (perpendicular to the selvage) if I'm prioritizing print orientation.
For this example, I'm working with floral print rayon fabrics with an obvious pattern direction. Rayon is a woven fabric with minimal stretch and the project is a scarf accessory - not a garment that will be worn on the body or frequently laundered.
