Thanks to an Exodus find, we know that holding Fishing Rod prevents putting it away when talking to NPCs. Because of this, we can perform Din's Cancel with them a la 1.0, allowing for TTG.

Notes about OoT3D from Cabbage: You can't just steal the rod as child; the only way to steal the rod is to ri a bomb/fw and the only items you can ri with in the fishing pond are hover boots and iron boots.
