The record shows the singer mostly in a Pop star role instead of her traditional jazz & blues style. Allmusic reviews the compilation album as saying: "This CD (which has the original LP program of 12 songs joined by six others) finds Washington singing brief (mostly under three-minute) versions of standards in hopes of gaining another hit.". The single "Unforgettable", released in 1959, peaked at 10 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1961, and Dinah's recording of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001".

A nocturne (from the French which meant nocturnal, from Latin nocturnus) is usually a musical composition that is inspired by, or evocative of, the night.
The Chopin nocturnes consist of 21 pieces for solo piano written by Frédéric Chopin between 1827 and 1846. They are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in contemporary concert repertoire. Although Chopin did not invent the nocturne, he popularized and expanded on it, building on the form developed by Irish composer John Field.
Chopins nocturnes numbered 1 to 18 were published during his lifetime, in twos or threes, in the order of composition. However, numbers 19 and 20 were actually written first, prior to Chopins departure from Poland, but published posthumously. Number 21 was not originally entitled nocturne at all, but since its publication in 1870 as such, it is generally included with publications and recordings of the set.
The Nocturnes, Op. 9 are a set of three nocturnes written by Frédéric Chopin between 1830 and 1832, published that year, and dedicated to Madame Marie Pleyel. The second nocturne of the work is regarded as Chopins most famous piece.
Chopin composed his best-known Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, N.º 2 when he was around twenty years old.
Samson Pascal François (18 May 1924 – 22 October 1970) was a French pianist and composer. François was born in Frankfurt where his father worked at the French consulate. François discovered the piano early – at the age of two – and his first studies were in Italy, with Pietro Mascagni, who encouraged him to give his first concert at the age of six. Having studied in the Conservatoire in Nice from 1932 to 1935, where he again won first prize, François came to the attention of Alfred Cortot, who encouraged him to move to Paris and study with Yvonne Lefébure at the École Normale de Musique. He also studied piano with Cortot (who reportedly found him almost impossible to teach), and harmony with Nadia Boulanger. In 1938, he moved to the Paris Conservatoire to study with Marguerite Long, the doyenne of French teachers of the age. He won the piano section of the inaugural (1943) Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition.
He was particularly admired for his performances of Chopin, Schumann, Debussy, and Ravel. Many of these interpretations are now available on compact disc. In 2012 his Debussy recordings were awarded the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik. François was a keen jazz fan—particularly of the pianist Bud Powell, who lived and performed in Paris—and claimed that jazz influenced his playing. He composed, among other works, a concerto for piano and incidental music for film.
