Caput Medusa refers to dilated veins around the umbilicus, which are caused by portal hypertension and the communication between paraumbilical veins and systemic veins. On the other hand, thoraco epigastric vein dilatation are enlarged collaterals between the lateral thoracic vein and the superficial epigastric vein, typically seen in cases of SVC or IVC obstruction. Understanding these conditions is crucial for diagnosing and managing patients with dilated veins in the abdomen.
