With support from the BC Arts Council and the Province of British Columbia, the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society Digital Currents Series features emerging and independent artists from across BC performing recorded sessions streamed for your enjoyment.
Penticton, BC’s Dave Barber has spent the last 15 years being an in-demand sideman touring with artists including Colin James, The Chieftains, Barney Bentall, and many more! He also played banjo on the 4x Platinum hit, Two Heads, by Coleman Hell.
During COVID, Dave pivoted from being a side person and recorded his first solo project called, “Molly’s Eyes” which was released in June 2023. This new career pivot has a sound that is a blend of Folk, Classic Country and Jazz that blend influences from Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, Ry Cooder and Bill Frisell.
Aside from the Juno award nomination, which was for his work with the bluegrass band High Bar Gang featuring Barney Bentall and Shari Ulrich, Barber has received awards from the British Columbia Country Music and Canadian Gospel Music associations, while being nominated for Canadian Country Music and Western Canadian Music awards as well.
