The Romans and the Vikings are two of the most famous peoples in history, but what were the DNA differences between them? Now the roots of the Romans were in the Latins, an Italic tribe, yet their identity was forged at a crossroads of Etruscan, Greek, and Mediterranean influences. The Romans grew from a small city-state into a vast, centralized empire, stretching from Britain to the Middle East.
The Vikings, by contrast, were not an empire but a culture: a network of Scandinavian seafarers whose identity was expressed through raiding, trading, and exploration, without a unified state or central authority.
