In this video, I take a close look at a converted Epson ET-8050 / ET-8550 printer that stopped working after a nipple conversion. The printer either fails to start or begins showing errors after the modification. I walk through the disassembly process and explain one of the most common mistakes people make during these conversions.
One of the key issues I find is improper sealing around the nipple modification area. The original Epson gasket and screw tension are critical for maintaining a watertight seal. If the screws are not tightened properly, or if the rubber gasket is missing or damaged, ink can leak into the printer during operation and cause serious problems.
I also discuss how the factory Epson seal can sometimes be too rigid and demonstrate a sealing method that I prefer to use during repairs. Proper waterproofing is extremely important when performing these conversions, especially when glue or sealant has been applied.
Throughout the video, I point out what to inspect during reassembly, how tight the screws should be, and why even small sealing mistakes can lead to major printer failures.
